Tasting notes: Idol – Smyrna Passito 2009 – Turkey

Although not mentioned on the bottle label, this Passito is produced from “muscat” grape and has significant aromas of honey, flower, nectarine, apricot and some yellow plum. The producer is Idol Vineyards from Western part of Turkey.

This sweet wine has got some medium intensity on the mid-palate, medium bodied; however, the acidity is rather low. Seems to be one of the finest sweet wines in Turkey in terms of price-quality base. Has rather medium-long finish but not an expectable long finish like an Italian Passito.

a nice wine…
