Tasting Notes: Vinolus – Syrah 2009

I have finally tasted Vinolus’ Syrah from 2009 vintage. The grapes are coming from Denizli’s Guney region.

On the nose you feel directly very impressive and nice eucaliptus aromas followed by cedar, chocolate and spicy notes together with rich fruity aromas and some oaky and toasty aromas which are not dominant. There is a very nice integration and balance between intensive aromas on the nose and palate.

The acidity is medium with soft tannin structure. There is a nice sweet intensity on the palate. We can feel all fruity characters during the long finish of this medium bodied wine.

I liked especially good barrel integration of the wine. For a maturation period of 12 months in oak barrels, oaky and fruity flavors are well balanced and well integrated into each other.

There is certainly good potential lies for this wine; I think it is one of the good “Syrah” wines in Turkish wine market. I am excitedly waiting for Vinolus’ new vintages and upcoming wines…
